The story of the life of Yitzhak Sade goes through many cycles. From a boy with forelocks in Warsaw, to a bohemian young man in Saint Petersburg. From a decorated officer in the Red Army and a friend of Trumpeldor whilst in Russia, to a settler in the Land of Israel (1920) He was one of the founders and leaders of ‘Gdud Ha'avoda’ (The Work Battalion). In 1941 he founded and commanded the Palmach. During the War of Independence he founded the first patrol troop in the Israel Army. Sadeh was a daring man who taught generations of fighters. They named him “the old man” and he was their hero. Yitzhak Sadeh was blessed with extraordinary charisma and a love of literature.
