Ima

This personal documentary by director Caterina Klusemann shows her fight to uncover the secrets of her grandmother's survival during the Holocaust and describes how her grandmother's secrets of identity have had repercussions on two subsequent generations of women. The result is a third generation personal investigative film about the family's cultural and historical roots, which wind through Italy, Venezuela, the United States and Poland. Klusemann was born in 1973 in Italy to the German painter Georg Klusemann and the Venezuelan sociologist and photographer Elena Hochmann-Klusemann. She grew up in Germany and Venezuela with her grandmother, mother and sister in a Toscana villa. “Ima” was selected by several international film festivals.
