The sole survivor of his large family, Shmuel (Samuel) Hacohen sets out on a personal journey to his homeland of the Netherlands. The Tivon resident is a musician and photographer wishing to refute the prevailing belief that the Dutch rescued their Jewish residents during World War II.
The journey though the Dutch landscape is fascinating yet painful as Samuel revisits each milestone of the route from the home he had been seized in — to Germany. On the way he meets people both who agree and disagree with his position that the Dutch had turned in the Jewish population.
This film is a poignant challenge to the contemporary image of the Netherlands.
