A two parts CBS miniseries that explores Adolf Hitler's rise to power during the years prior to World War II and focuses on how the German society after World War I made that rise possible. The movie attempts to illustrate how Hitler's anti-Semitism became central to his political mission in Germany and found a broad hold among the German public. Also central to the story are the influence that Ernst Hanfstaengl had on Hitler's rise and his relationship with mistress Eva Braun. The subplot of this film follows the struggles of Fritz Gerlich, a German journalist who opposes the rising Nazism. Winner of 2 Emmy Awards (Best Sound and best Art Direction).
