Mulberry Harbour

Movies
This documentary tells the story of Mulberry harbor, an artificial temporary harbor created during WWII to provide port facilities to offload tons of supplies, vehicles and manpower necessary to sustain the invasion of Allied forces to Normandy. Until 9th June 1944, three days after D-Day, the two harbors codenamed Mulberry, A and B, were constructed at Omaha Beach and Gold Beach respectively. Days Later a large storm destroyed the American harbor at Omaha, leaving only the British-Canadian port. Gold Beach was used for 8 months after the invasion and landed about 2.5 million men, half a million vehicles and 4 million tons of supplies providing much needed reinforcements for the fighting in France. The completed Mulberry harbor had 15 kms of floating roadways, and until today it is considered an example for excellency in military engineering. Including archive footage, dramatic reconstruction, virtual simulation, drawings, experts’ comments and interviews.
