Two separate short documentaries. In the first film, “Darfur Eyewitness”, former U.S. Marine Brian Steidle describes what he saw while in Darfur with the African Union Monitoring Force in March 2005. Intertwined in his testimony are photographs taken in May 2004 by Jerry Fowler, Director of the Committee on Conscience at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, who traveled to Chad to visit Sudanese refugees who fled the Darfur region of Sudan (10 min). In the second film, “Staring Genocide in the Face”, Steidle relates some of the stories he heard about their escape from the genocide (7 min).
