Episode in a 26-part documentary series that presents a detailed survey of World War II. Episode 10 - "U Boats in the Atlantic 1939-1944". German attempts to starve England by attacking supply ships from North America and almost succeeding. Tons of shipments are sunk and many lives lost as a result of the submarine offensive of Admiral Doenitz. The merchant ships of the allies, in spite of the technique of protected convoys, accompaniment of the Navy, and basic underwarter detection equipment, are very vulnerable. Includes archival films and testimonies. Narration by the British actor Laurence Olivier.
