Joseph Schultz

Dramatization of the conflict between values, morals, personal responsibility, and blind obedience to authority. Based on a true story, the film tells of Joseph Schultz, a German Soldier in a fighting unit, the 714th division of the Wehrmacht, who was always ready to obey orders. On July 19, 1941 he is ordered to shoot a group of local farmers in Orahovica, Yugoslavia. He refuses to follow orders, and without explanation decides to join those that he was to have shot and to die with them.The film rests more on imagery and description than dialogue. Much of the film is silent.
