This documentary tells of the various activities of Suehnezeichen, organization founded by Lothar Kreisick in 1958 at a protestant synod. The purpose was to encourage young Germans to work in reconstruction and various social services in expiation of Nazi crimes. There is a group of young people working at a construction site in Norway. There are volunteers working in Kibbutz Urim with the handicapped. Other work in Yad Vashem and The Leo Baeck institute in documentation. Ben Gurion had approved their activities apart from their care of the Jewish aged, the Suehnezeichen are also involved in Arab projects. In the DDR, volunteers worked in camp Ravensbruck to refurbish the site. One group is active in St. Petersburg in a hospital for war veterans. They also visit a memorial site for Russian soldiers to demonstrate German Russian co-operation for peace.
