Gdańsk 1939

A documentary. It outlines the events of 1939 in Gdańsk and their genesis. From the creation of the Free City of Gdansk and its nazification in the 1930s , to the tragic fate of the Polish and Jewish population of the city, the defense of Westerplatte and the Polish Post Office in Gdańsk. The film shows the city's inter-war period history. Ample archival material, including archival footage, eyewitness testemonies recorded bt the Meusum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. The film includes also commentaries by historians and reasearchers on the Gdańsk twentieth century history.
