A documentary film. During the Civil Rights era, Jewish leaders worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King to advance racial equality. The alliance between African and Jewish Americans began in the early 20th century in response to shared experiences of bigotry and discrimination. In recent years, this once-close relationship has been almost forgotten. With archival material and eyewitness interviews--featuring the late Congressman John Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Susannah Heschel (daughter of Rabbi Abraham Heschel), and members of the King family--this documentary revisits the Black-Jewish cooperation and calls for renewed solidarity in times of rising intolerance.
