A documentary. This movie is about the hidden memory of anti-Semitism and Right-wing nationalism in Québec during the 1930s and 1940s. Esther Delisle is a Phd candidate at Laval University, and caused a scandal when she revealed how Québec’s nationalist leadership and its mouthpiece "Le Devoir" were unabashedly pro-fascist, pro-Pétain and anti-Semitic during this fateful period. This movie shares the testimonies of people who lived through these troubled times, adding comments by historians and academics who dispute Delisle’s findings. It is also an attempt to understand how and why Québec nationalism drifted into the dangerous and hostile ground of anti-Semitism and support for fascism in the 30s and 40s and why it is so difficult to speak about the subject today.
