This documentary tells the true story of Jews from Vienna who found refuge from the Nazis in Shanghai. Due to the heroic efforts of Ho Feng Shan, the Chinese diplomat based in Vienna, thousands of Jews were granted visas to China thus saving them from the claws of the Nazis. The film depicts the struggles and harsh policies the Jews were enduring in Europe, their endless pleas to find refuge, arriving in a new and strange country and the everlasting bond and total gratitude tens of thousands of Jews owe to China and its people. The film uses the Jewish refugee crisis of the 1930's and 40's to address the growing numbers of refugees today coming into Europe
