MURER - Anatomy of a Trial

This a feature film by Christian Frosch , on the original documents of the trial against Franz Murer in 1962. Murer was from 1941 to 1943 primarily responsible for the crimes against Jews in Vilnius. The film shows how it was possible, that although his guilt was proven by the evidence, Murer was acquitted due to the inner dynamic of the post-fascist society of Austria. The film was first screened in 2018 at the Diagonale Film Festival in Graz and won the main price of the festival for the best motion picture.
