The last days of the siblings Sophie and Hans Scholl – activists in “The White Rose”, a resistance group against the Nazi regime, in Munich 1943. The two are caught by the Gestapo and endure interrogations that will culminate in their execution. Director Marc Rothemund closes another account with Hitler in a historic drama made possible by the use of long-buried historical records of the incarceration (after the dissolution of East Germany). The film throws light on one of the most profound episodes of opposition to the Nazi regime. Winner of two prizes at the Berlin Festival and nominated for an Oscar.
