The Kinderrettungsverein (Child Rescue Association) was established in 1905 by the priest Wilhelm Pfeiffer, a priest at the Evangelist Innere Mission (Inner Mission) in Berlin. The Association was meant to care for children who were born out of wedlock in the large "Charite" hospital in Berlin. The Association also took care of orphans and half-orphaned children.
