Ron Gish's father worked for an electrical wiring manufacturing company whose president was Louis Ludwig, a Jew who was active on behalf of Eretz Israel, with contacts with the Ampal Company. The letter reflects the awareness of the Jews in the United States regarding the situation in Germany in 1938, a few weeks after Kristallnacht.
