Life as a child in the Warsaw Ghetto in the home of her extended family, according to stories she was told; escape from the Warsaw Ghetto to the home of a Polish family; her first memory is about her fear of air-raids; life in the home of an educated and devoutly religious Catholic family; killing of the family's father and son, who were members of the underground; she is informed at the age of 12 or 13 that she is Jewish and is an adopted child; she attends a high school for music students; transfer to a Jewish orphanage in Berslau when she is 15 years old; life in the orphanage for approximately 18 months; move to a dormitory in Warsaw; she agrees to the proposal of the Israeli Consulate (to make aliya to Israel) in 1959.
