Note:
Emil Merker lived in Moosback in the early 1950s; he knew a blacksmith who had fought as a German soldier on the Polish front during the war; the soldier was a witness to the mass murder of Jews carried out by the units known as the Liquidierungskommandon (liquidation commando).
