Life under Hungarian rule in 1939; father inducted into the Hungarian Army labor brigades in 1941 and returns; German occupation ensues in 1944; deportation to the Munkacs ghetto in 1944; deportation to Auschwitz in 1944; transferred to Mauthausen (in Austria) in 1944; forced labor: building an underground armaments factory; death march to the Gunskirchen camp in 1945; liberation by American forces in 1945; back to Loza, Carpathian Ruthenia, upon the end of the war in 1945; unsuccessful attepmpt to slip into Hungary in 1945; moving to Romania and thence to Budapest in 1946; joining a Hakibbutz Hameuhad settlement group; crossing via Austria to a displaced persons camp in Udine, Italy, in 1946; illegal immigration to Eretz Israel (Aliya Bet) aboard the Amiram Shahar in 1946; adjustment to life in Eretz Israel.
