Offspring of a religious Zionist family; Soviet occupation ensues in 1940; the German–Soviet war breaks out in 1941; witness escapes in the direction of Ukraine; circulates among villages in the area; arrested and deported to the Kopaygorod ghetto; life in the ghetto under dire conditions; working for a local peasant; escape with a friend to the forests; joins the partisans; the Germans close in and the witness retreats as far as Fergana; works in a textile plant; marries in a local synagogue; moves to Kiev in late 1944; rehabilitation; immigration to Israel in 1973; adjustment to life in Israel.
