Childhood in an affluent Orthodox home; begins studies at a Jewish school in 1937; the Belzer Rebbe lives with the family for six weeks while escaping from Poland in 1942; Germans enter on March 19, 1944; yellow star; studies terminated on April 6, 1944; digging a bunker under father's metal factory; family moves to a marked house in Budapest; moves into the bunker along with some thirty people on June 24, 1944; building concierge provides them with food for payment; liberation by Red Army forces in 1945; looting and rape by Red Army soldiers; re-establishing life after the war; immigration to Israel in 1952.
