Testimony of Haim Gunsberger Genizi, born in Budapest, Hungary in 1934, regarding his experiences as a child in a protected house and in the Budapest Ghetto Life before the war; implementation of anti-Jewish legislation during the 1930s; Hiding of refugees from Austria and Slovakia; antisemitism by the non-Jewish population; transfer of his father to service in the labor battalions, 1940; release of his father, approximately one year later; German occupation, March 1944; appropriation of the Jewish school building, and halting of the studies; wearing a yellow badge; confiscation of property; marking of Jewish houses; declaration of a curfew for some of the hours of the day; his family members obtain protective documents from the Swiss Embassy; escape to a protected house; violence by the Iron Cross organization; abuse of elderly people; deportation from the protected house to the Budapest Ghetto in late November 1944; Budapest Ghetto life including overcrowding, hunger and corpses remaining on the street; liberation by the Red Army on 18 January 1945; Hunger; move to a children's home in Deszk; life in the children's home; attempt to make illegal aliya to Eretz Israel; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1947.
