Group testimony of Holocaust survivors from Transnistria, with participants: Yitzhak Ialon, Naftali Avneri, Shlomo Steinmetz, Rivka (Berkovici) Landan, Menachem Bernstein, Zhaki Pistiner, Malka Kleiman and Esther Hershkovitz, comparing the Dzhurin Ghetto, the Shargorod Ghetto and the Mogilev Ghetto (in three districts of Mogilev, in the north of Transnistria) The purpose of the meeting was: A) To discuss and compare the life in the three ghettos, which are located in the same district, the Mogilev district of Transnistria; comparison was made regarding the organization of the ghetto and the daily ghetto life; comparison was based on the differences in the character and means of deportation of the Jews in each of the three districts, and on the historical differences regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrival of the deportees to each ghetto; B) Due to the different circumstances mentioned above, the group discussion also examined, from the viewpoint of the public, the ability of each ghetto to organize itself, the leadership in each of the ghettos, the ability of each ghetto to maneuver opposite the Romanian authorities, and the influence of these circumstances upon the daily ghetto life, combined with the aim to survive the stay in these ghettos during 1941-1944; C) The discussion included new insights obtained by the participants, given the perspective of the passing of 64 years since the liberation.
