German occupation, May 1940; confiscation of property; arrest of his father and brother, early 1941; escape from the city; in hiding in the Rotterdam area; return to Enschede, summer 1942; deportation to Westerbork; from there to Sankt Annaberg, after a few days; forced labor in construction; transfer to Sakrau after approximately one month; labor in construction; transfer to Bobrek after approximately one month; labor in laying railroad tracks; hunger; disease; abuse; mortality; smuggling food; removal of bodies from the camp grave and their transfer to the Jewish cemetery in Beuthen; transfer to Blechhammer after approximately three months; labor in a power station; hunger; abuse; on a death march, late December 1944; mortality and murder along the way; arrival at Buchenwald via Gross-Rosen; hunger; difficult physical condition; disappearance of his brother; liberation by the US Army.
