Deportation of his family to the Zhmerinka Ghetto, November 1941; his mother rescues a girl who is sick with typhus; his mother becomes sick with typhus disease; death of his mother (she was a mother of four children) at the age of 35; acts of cruelty by Jewish policemen; liberation from the ghetto, 27 March 1944.
