Testimony of June Goldi (Mann) Salholz, born in Makow, Poland, 1920, regarding her experiences in Makow, Wieliczka, in hiding and in Krakow, Budapest and other places Her childhood in a family of hasidim; her family owns a summer season "Glatt kosher" hotel; her father's work in the community; witness attends a public school; learns fashion studies in a vocational high school; Zionist activities in the Akiva movement. Outbreak of the war, 1939; her family's escape to Wieliczka; move back [to Makow] approximately three months later; life [in Makow] including sewing for German women; receives notification regarding an anticipated deportation close to Rosh Hashana, 1942; escape with her older sister; in hiding in an acquaintance's granary; receives help from the acquaintance to obtain forged documents; move to Krakow; capture of her sister; deportation of her sister to Auschwitz as a Polish woman; sends packages to her sister every week for three months; life with a Polish family; move to the Slovakian border with a group and a [border] smuggler, due to the increase of danger; move to Budapest; life in a village as a Polish woman; German Army occupation [of Budapest], March 1944; escape of the group to Romania; life in Bucharest. Move back to Poland in order to transfer her mother's remains from a Catholic cemetery to a Jewish cemetery, 1946; move to Germany; aliya to Israel, 1949; emigration to the United States, 1958.
