Testimony of Shifra Mur Mekler, born in 1934 in Sandomierz, Poland, about escaping from the Sandomierz ghetto and hiding in a nearby village Family life before the war; antisemitism; German occupation ensues in September 1939; family business confiscated; yellow star; uncle hides in order to evade forced labor; witness smuggles food to uncle's hideout; escapes to a nearby village with help from a Polish acquaintance named Jozek Kowalski in May 1941; denounced; parents and brother captured and disasppear; witness returns to Sandomierz; ghetto in Sandomierz established in June 1942; Aktion in 1942; witness hides; murders and abuse in market square; witness escapes to the countryside with help from the building concierge; hides in the home of Kuras Stefan; moves to a hideout in a granary; life in hiding; hunger; captured by Poles; bribes them and escapes into the fields; lice; back to the granary; faith; keeping kosher; liberated by Red Army forces; life after the war; one uncle murdered in the Kielce pogrom; life in an orphanage in Lublin; immigration to Eretz Israel in 1947.
