Testimony of David Friedman, born in Miskolc, Hungary, 1923, regarding his experiences in Encs, Kosice, Hajmasker, on a death march, in Buchenwald and more Childhood in a religious home; learns in a "heder"; studies in a Yeshiva; attends a Hungarian elementary school; family life in Encs until being deported to a ghetto; antisemitic displays before the war. German occupation [of Encs], March 1944; life under German occupation including anti-Jewish decrees, travel restrictions; confiscation of property and yellow badge; deportation to Kosice; transfer to the ghetto in a brick factory in Kosice two weeks later; transfer to forced labor; transfer to the Hajmasker camp; camp life for a few months; death march to Buchenwald to a camp near the Sandorf village; life in the camp including forced labor digging anti-tank trenches; transfer on foot to Mauthausen; transfer to the Busen camp, late April 1949 [should be: 1945]; transfer on foot to Gunskirchen; liberation by the US Army, 04 May 1945. Hospitalization in Linz, return to Encs; aliya to Eretz Israel through Hanoar Hatzioni via Yugoslavia on the ship "Hagana", 1946.
