Transfer of the residents of the Alsace region to Vichy; German Army occupation of France, 1940; decision [by his family] to move to Le Chatre;; life in a house owned by the Church in La Chatre including the confiscation of transportation vehicles by the Germans; "Aktions"; receipt of advance knowledge regarding the "Aktions"; in hiding in a local clubhouse during an "Aktion"; rescue; liberation. Witness learns in a yeshiva; joins the Bnei Akiva movement; aliya to Israel to Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, 1950.
