Testimony of Eliezer Leizer Ayalon (Hershenfis), born in Radom, Poland, in 1926, about his experiences in the Radom ghetto; in the Płaszów, Blizyn, and Mauthausen camps, etc. Life before the war, son of an Orthodox family; attending a cheder and a Polish school; joining the Bnei Akiva movement; German occupation ensues on September 8, 1939; Jews placed under restrictions; food rationing; ban on attending school; ban on worship in synagogue; placement in the "large ghetto" in March 1941; working at AVL (manufacturing clothing for the army); receiving an inoculation certificate; murder of family in Treblinka; transfer to Blizyn in April 943; life in the camp; abused by the Kapo Stacek Wajnrow, a Jew from Radom; transfer to Płaszów in May 1944; live in the camp; abuse by the commander of the camp, Amon Göth, of a Jewish boy as the prisoners look on; murder by dogs; selection and transfer to Mauthausen on August 8, 1941; transfer to Melk; life in the camp; digging quartz tunnels; attempt to observe Yom Kippur in September 1944; placement in the "reviere" (the camp infirmary); receiving protection due to his singing ability; transfer by boat on the Danube in April 1945; then by death march to Ebensee; life in the camp; coating of tunnel walls with concrete; libeation by an American squad under General Patton on May 6, 1945; exciting encounter with Jewish Brigade soldiers; relocation with 400 Jewish boys to the displaced persons camp in Salzburg; transfer to Santa Maria di Bagni; immigration to Eretz Israel aboard the Princess Kathleen with Youth Aliyah on November 5, 1945.
