Testimony of Ilona Rachel Lea (Hershkovitz) Isaak, born in Coltirea, Romania, 1924, regarding her experiences in the Baia Mare Ghetto, Auschwitz and Goerlitz Her childhood in her parents' home. Romania joins the war, 1940; hiding of their valuables with their neighbors; deportation to the Baia Mare Ghetto; deportation on a train to Auschwitz; separation between men and women; selection by Dr. Mengele; tattooing of number 12473 on her arm; life in Auschwitz in Block 20, Camp C, together with her mother and another 1,200 women, including fasting on Yom Kippur; transfer to Block 16 in Camp B in Auschwitz; transfer to Block 3 in Goerlitz camp; camp life including labor in shifts in an OP aircraft parts factory; Red Army occupation of the area. Move back home via Budapest; receives help from the JDC; return of the property that had been handed over to their neighbors, March 1945; marriage, 1947; life after the war; aliya to Israel, 1953.
