Testimony of Avraham Meir Cohen, born in Olaszliszka, Hungary, 1929, regarding his experiences in Cigand, the Satoraljaujhely Ghetto, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dachau, Kaufbeuern and on a death march His childhood in Cigand in an ultra-Orthodox family; witness learns in a "heder"; attends a public school; life until 1944. Draft of his father to labor battalions; German Army occupation [of Cigand], March 1944; deportation to the Satoraljaujhely Ghetto, after Pesach [April 1944]; transfer with a group of young people, under police escort, to search for food in empty apartments; Satoraljaujhely Ghetto life, for approximately one month; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, before Shavuot [May 1944]; life in Birkenau, Camp C including forced labor and selections; transfer to Dachau; transfer to Kaufbeuern; death march, for approximately two days; liberation. Convalescence from tuberculosis illness in a sanatorium; move back home; aliya to Eretz Israel with Gachal; War of Independence in Eretz Israel.
