Testimony of Rita (Dicastro) Wissel, born in Rome, Italy in 1931, regarding her experiences in Rome and in hiding while using a false identity Publication of the Racial Laws in 1938; termination of her studies; studies in a Jewish school; harm to her family's livelihood; her father receives a work permit; life in hiding outside the city in summer 1943; German occupation, September 1943; escape by her family members to the south of Italy; they hand over gold and jewelry to the Germans; "Aktion" on 16 October 1943; escape from home; help from friends in finding a hiding place; her father and brother find a hiding place in a monastery; receipt of forged documents with the name Costa; departure from the hiding place in order to obtain food; liberation of Rome in August 1944; her brother and sister make aliya to Eretz Israel; she makes aliya to Israel in 1952.
