Outbreak of the war [should be: German Army invasion of Belgium], summer 1940; escape to Royan by vehicle and by train with a group of diamond worker families; move to Liverpool on a British ship; detention of his parents; witness is placed in a non-Jewish orphanage in Kent with his older sister; life [in the orphanage] for several months until the release of his parents from detention; reunification of his family. Life in London; aliya to Israel, 1954.
