Outbreak of the war, September 1939; German Army occupation of Niepolomice; life under German occupation including the imposition of anti-Jewish restrictions, acts of physical abuse against Jews and forced labor; deportation to the Krakow Ghetto; move back to Niepolomice; activities in the black market; forced labor in a sawmill; "Aktion", 1942; murder of older people in a mass grave; separation between men and women; deportation of his mother and the young women [his sisters?]; life with his father including labor in a foundry; disappearance of his father; shelling; transfer of inmates to Austria; life in Mauthausen, for approximately three weeks; transfer to Gusen; camp life including typhus disease; attempt to murder the inmates by explosion in the subterranean tunnels; foiling of the murder attempt by Polish POWs; escape from the camp following the fleeing of the German guards; liberation by the US Army.
