Emigration of his parents from Turkey; lack of earning a livelihood.
Allied air-raids on Livorno, 1942; escape; they take shelter in the cemetery; escape to villages in a convoy of refugees; life as the only Jewish family in Vinci; detention by the fascist police force; detention in the Villa la Silva prison along with Italian partisans; release of the inmates by [other] partisans; in hiding while hidden by villagers; wanderings while using a Christian identity; retreat of the Germans.
Move to Florence; receives help from the Jewish Brigade and the Jewish community; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1945.
