Life under Hungarian occupation including the removal of Jews from schools, 1939; ban on kosher ritual slaughter, and acts of abuse by Hungarian gendarmes; beating to death of an Admor [rabbi]; move to Budapest with his brother, 1942; German Army occupation of Budapest; deportation to forced labor in the clearing of rubble; loss of contact with his family; labor for the Germans digging trenches against air-raids; transfer to labor dismantling mines in Transylvania; military revolt, October 1944; escape from a labor battalion in Budapest; capture by fascists; transfer on foot to the Danube River; escape; in hiding in a protected house in Budapest; liberation, 1945. Joins Hanoar Hatzioni; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1946.
