Testimony of Jakob Kuba Zuckerman, born in Lodz, Poland, 1926, regarding his experiences in Lodz, the Lodz Ghetto, Skarzysko Kamienna, Czestochowa and Israel His childhood with his parents; outbreak of the economic crisis, 1929; pogroms on the streets; move to the Radogoszcz area. German Army occupation of Lodz, September 1939; life under German occupation including bans and restrictions; kidnapping of his father, February 1940; move to his grandmother's home in the Lodz Ghetto; sealing of the Lodz Ghetto, April 1940; Lodz Ghetto life including the allotment of food, labor in a workshop producing boots for the German Army, hunger, and acts of abuse; curfew (Sperre) "Aktion" against children, September 1942; activities of the Jewish police; publication of announcements for enlistment to labor in Germany; assembly in the Umschlagplatz, the railroad station and deportation to camps; each family on the transport receives wooden shoes, a loaf of bread, a postcard and five DM (Deutsch Marks); transfer in a freight train to Skarzysko Kamienna, including acts of abuse by Ukrainians; life in a HASAG ammunitions factory including hunger; receives knowledge regarding the execution of his father by hanging; approach of the army front; transfer to Czestochowa along with the equipment; receives knowledge regarding the murder of Jews; screening of the film about the murder of Polish officers in the Katyn forest; the Germans flee; liberation by the Red Army. Move back to Lodz; joins Gordonia; move with Bericha in the direction of Eretz Israel, 1947; wanderings in Europe; illegal aliya attempt to Eretz Israel on the "Kaf Tet Benovember" ship; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Israel, 1949; life in Israel.
