The Anschluss; the beginning of hostile treatment on the part of the local population; the witness winning the competition at school and not receiving the prize due to her being a Jewish; joining the Maccabi Hatzair youth movement; Zionism; the arrival of Eichmann in the youth movement; Kristallnacht riots; the arrest of her father on Kristallnacht; deportation of the witness and her mother from the home; release of her father; a Mussolini visit to the city; her father's attempt to cross the border into the Netherlands together with her sister and his success in reaching the Netherlands; her sister’s return home; her father's move to Belgium and his work there and his survival during the war in Belgium in hiding. Aliya to Eretz Israel as part of the Maccabi Hatzair youth movement, 1939; absorption and acclimatization.
