Childhood in a religious family; attendance at a Romanian school; life until 1940.
Russian occupation; German occupation, summer 1941; deportation to the Cernauti Ghetto; decision of the parents to go into hiding; deportation; various types of labor in Cernauti and afterwards in Bessarabia in a labor camp; a short let-up and deportation to labor in southern Transylvania; the decision to escape; assistance by a Romanian officer and deportation; arrival in Bucharest during the air-raids, 1944.
Illegal aliya attempt with the assistance of the Zionist movement, two weeks later; departure as part of a group of three ships, one of which, (the "Mefkure"), was sunk, summer 1944; setting sail on the ship "Boulbul" to Turkey and from there by train to Eretz Israel; absorption.
