Testimony of Zvi Hershele Birenbaum, born in Proszowice, Poland, 1923, regarding his experiences in Bedzin, the Kamionka Ghetto, Birkenau, Theresienstadt, Nordhausen and on a death march Childhood orphaned of his father; move to Bedzin with his mother and siblings. Outbreak of the war, 1939; escape to Lwow; life as a refugee; return to Bedzin; yellow badge; selection [during an Aktion] and rescue of his mother from deportation; deportation to the Kamionka Ghetto; ghetto life including work in a sewing workshop; deportation to Birkenau; camp life including labor in the craftsmen's block as a tailor and a launderer, contact with the kitchen and the Canada Kommando, contact with the women's camp; transfer to Theresienstadt; camp life including Yom Kippur, selections, plays and performances on Sundays; death march, January 1945; transfer to Nordhausen; air-raids; death march; escape and in hiding in a barn in the Orbach area; liberation by the US Army and the Red Army. Return to Bedzin; reunion with his brother; move to Germany; aliya to Eretz Israel, March 1948.
