Childhood in a traditional home; attends Romanian elementary and high schools; displays of antisemitism before the war.
Soviet occupation, 1940; economic changes in the lives of the Jews; deportations to Siberia; reoccupation by the Romanians, 1941; anti-Jewish legislation; yellow badge; confiscation of property, travel restrictions and more; deportation to the Cernauti Ghetto, 1941; deportation to Transnistria a short time later; journey to Atachi by train; transfer to Mogilev on rafts; her brother's work in the Jugendorf Territory; her father's death from typhus, 1942; help from her uncle who transferred money to the family from Switzerland; liberation by the Red Army, 1944.
Her brother is drafted into the Red Army; return to Cernauti; joins Hanoar Hatzioni; marriage to Mr. Yehuda Shaari who arrived in Romania as an emissary from Eretz Israel (and later served in various public positions, including serving as a member of the Israel Knesset); aliya to Eretz Israel, March 1948.
