Testimony of Varda Roza (Naon) Farchi, born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 1931, regarding her experiences in Sofia, Kazanlik and in the home of a family in Ferdinand Family moves to Sophia when the witness is two months old; her mother was born in Jerusalem, her father was born in Greece; her father's work in a British factory. The sight of Germans on the streets, 1942; displays of antisemitism; order to prepare for deportation; hiding some of their possessions in the factory; confiscation of most of their property by the authorities; warning about concentration camps by neighbors; rescinding of the deportation orders due to intervention by the authorities; move to the city of Kazanlik; her father's work in a factory despite the prohibition; integration into the local Jewish community; food from the JDC; deportation of all the Jews of Kazanlik from the city; transfer to Ferdinand; residence in the home of a local resident; release of her sister from detention in exchange for a bribe; liberation, and entry of the partisans into Ferdinand. Acts of revenge against the fascist government; legal aliya to Eretz Israel, December 1945; absorption in Kibbutz Hazorea; joined by her family, 1948.
