Testimony of Heddy (Finkler) Landau, born in Verniceni, Romania, 1933, regarding her experiences in the Cernauti Ghetto and the Mogilev Ghetto Childhood in a modern Zionist home; move to Cernauti following a warning from a non-Jew regarding an imminent pogrom, winter 1939. Occupation by the Red Army, June 1940; German and Romanian occupation, June 1941; deportation to the Cernauti Ghetto, June 1941; receiving of "essential laborer" certificates, and return home for a few days; informed on and deportation back to the Cernauti Ghetto; deportation to Transnistria; life in the Mogilev Ghetto; meeting with her mother's family; ghetto life; establishment of a hospital outside the ghetto and transfer to living quarters in the hospital; addition of the witness to the Transnistria orphans, spring 1944; return to Botosani and living quarters with her uncle; arrival of her mother with the arrival of the Red Army; return to Mogilev because her parents have been drafted to care for the Red Army soldiers; return to Cernauti, April 1944. Crossing the border to Botosani illegally, 1945; starting a family; aliya to Israel, 1961.
