Soviet occupation, September 1939; retreat of the Red Army beyond the Bug river; joins together with his family those who retreat; German occupation; escape of the family to Poland; remains with his wife in Berezne; German occupation, 1941; restrictions on the Jews including yellow badge; restrictions on movement and other; deportation to the Berezne Ghetto; ghetto life; "Aktion" and deportation to Kostopol; camp life; receives information on the murder of Jews in the Berezne Ghetto including his wife and daughter; escape with two friends to a forest; life in the forest including joining the partisans; contracts typhus; liberation by the Red Army.
