Testimony of Jakov Yanko Teksler, born in Deda, Romania, 1923 Childhood in a religious family; death of his father; move to Toplica. Drafted to labor battalions and transfer to labor camp 110/302 in Baia Mare, from 17 May 1944; transfer to Mitresti to lay train tracks under the supervision and abuse of the (Nyilas) Arrow Cross and the Germans; transfer to Szekesfehervar to rebuild a blown-up bridge; from there to Szombathely for labor repairing a train station and tracks that were destroyed during air-raids; transfer of the unit to Schaffendorf; digging of anti-tank trenches; transfer on foot to Mauthausen; rescue by a Wehrmacht soldier; food in exchange for a gold necklace; liberation by the US Army, 05 May 1945. Transfer to a hospital in Linz with help from the JDC; life under Communist regime; aliya to Israel, 1965; absorption.
