Pogrom on Kristallnacht; destruction of his grandfather's store and looting of the property; sets sail on the Danube River on the "Pencho" ship; help from the Jewish community in Bulgaria and Romania; move to Crete; "Pencho" ship lands on a sandbank; discovery of the survivors by an Italian aircraft and transfer of the survivors to Rodi; help from the Jews of Rodi; attitude of the Italian soldiers; transfer to Ferramonti; liberation in Ferramonti.
Meets Jewish Brigade emissaries; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1944.
