Documents from the process in the Regional Courts (Landesgericht) in Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Vienna against members of the HSSPF Lublin: Documentation of the trial, volume 11; Documentation of the investigation against Heinrich Barbl, held in Linz Regional Court: Statements by Heinrich Barbl, 1963 - 1966 Statements by Heinrich Barbl, born 3 March 1900, a resident of Linz; he was a plumber, a guard at the Hartheim euthanasia site and a guard in Sobibor. Statement from 25 March 1963: - Claim that he only worked as a plumber in Sobibor, and that he was only there for four weeks. Statement from 19 October 1965: - Information regarding Barbl's membership in Nazi organizations; - Reconstruction of Schloss Hartheim and the murder of mentally disabled people; - Construction of the showers in the gas chambers by Barbl. - Information regarding the structure of Sobibor and his work there; claim that the installations for the gas chambers were already completed when he arrived in Sobibor; - Mention of a visit to Belzec with Wirth; denial that he worked at Belzec; claim that he never witnessed how people were murdered in the gas chambers; - Claim that Hoedl activated the motor for the gas chambers; later claim that Hoedl did not activate the motor for the gas chamber; - Participation in the undressing of people several times; - Guarding the transport from the train to the gas chambers. Statement from 16 October 1965: - Claim by Barbl that Hoedl transported Jews by bus to Sobibor; admission that he (Barbl) helped to install the motor for the gas chamber; admission that he witnessed how people were killed in the gas chamber; - Report of a test of the gas chamber involving the murder of Jewish women; further report that Red Cross nurses helped the women to undress; - Transportation of people to Sobibor in passenger coaches and buses. Statement from 28 March 1966: - Statement that he installed showers in the gas chamber of Hartheim; - Description of plates for urns which he produced with the names of people who had been murdered; - Admission that he converted the gas system for the gas chambers in Belzec and description of the gas chamber in Sobibor; further admission that he prepared the gas chamber in Sobibor to make it look like a shower room; in earlier statements he denied that he had seen the inside of the gas chambers. Statement from 29 March 1966: - Protocol from being shown pictures of other guards and workers in Sobibor, Belzec and Treblinka; very confused information. Also in the file: -Note stating that Barbl seems to be bovine and unintelligent (19 October 1965).
