Discriminatory laws, 1938; effect of the laws on the Jews; drafting of her father and brother to forced labor at service jobs; arrival of refugees in the town; German occupation, March 1944; her mother's hospitalization in a hospital in Budapest; deportation to the Balassagyarmat Ghetto, 1944; ghetto life; guarding of the ghetto by Hungarian gendarmes; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau by train; selection; murder of her mother and relatives; camp life; transfer to Oberhohenelbe by train; camp life including cultural activities and mutual help; lighting Hanukkah candles and religious life in the camp; liberation, May 1945. Partisan guard over those liberated; birth of a baby in the camp; rehabilitation and help from the JDC; reunion with her father and brother; marriage, 1946; Haganah military training in anticipation of aliya to Eretz Israel; aliya to Eretz Israel via Marseilles, 1948.
